Muir Woods reservations

What you need to book, what it costs, and how to get in without a parking spot.

Muir Woods, an old-growth coast redwood forest, is open every day from 8 a.m. to sunset. Driving in? You need a parking reservation. Riding the seasonal shuttle from the ferry terminals? You need a shuttle reservation. Both come from GoMuirWoods.com, and the reservation fee is separate from the $15 entrance fee for everyone 16 and older.

Do I need a reservation for Muir Woods in 2026?

Yes, if you drive or ride the shuttle. NPS: reservations are required for all vehicles and shuttle riders, through GoMuirWoods.com, and the reservation fee is separate from the entrance fee.

How far ahead can I book?

NPS doesn't publish a booking window, so we won't guess one. Check GoMuirWoods.com for open dates.

Entrance fee

$15 per person 16 and older; under 16 free. Pay ahead with your parking or shuttle reservation, or at the visitor center. An America the Beautiful pass covers the entrance fee, not the parking reservation.

No reservation? Ways in anyway

  • Bike in: NPS says bikers don't need a parking reservation (it's a steep ride; racks are at the entry plaza).
  • Hike in from Marin Transit route 61: get off at Panoramic Highway and Ridge Avenue and take the Panoramic and Canopy View trails down, about 1.3 miles each way.
  • Take a tour: several companies run Muir Woods tours. NPS doesn't recommend any one company.
